Empower your mind.  Empower your body.
Harness the power of the mind-body connection.

I’m Lisa Fisher, professional peacemaker, certified Yoga teacher and Shodan (first degree black belt) in Kenpo Karate.

I help mindful humans grow into the best version of themselves and bring more empowered compassion to all areas of their life.

Do you want to empower your mind and learn how to

  • expand your awareness and understanding of yourself and others?
  • face your fears and use them to keep you safe, not stuck?
  • overcome self-doubt and take purposeful action that feels natural to you?
  • retire from people-pleasing, stand up for yourself and establish healthy boundaries?
  • upgrade from helpless victim to resourceful creator?
  • embrace your unique qualities as your biggest assets, and unapologetically be yourself?

Do you want to empower your body and learn how to

  • manage your instinctual stress response to perceived threats (fight/flight, freeze/appease, tend/befriend)?
  • speak a body language that exudes strength and confidence?
  • keep yourself physically safe in the event of an attack?

Do you want to harness the power of the mind-body connection and learn how to

  • use your body to communicate to your brain that you are powerful and courageous?
  • stay calm and focused in tense situations?
  • say what you need to say to the person who needs to hear it, with confidence and compassion, rather than staying quiet to keep the peace?
  • nurture meaningful connections with fellow humans who appreciate you for who you are?

If you answered YES to any of these questions,
then you have come to the right place.

Mind-Body Empowerment is a multi-disciplinary approach, drawing on neuroscience, Yoga, martial arts, and communication and conflict resolution skills.

  • Based on understanding how the human brain selects and processes information, you will learn to recognize stubborn limiting beliefs and transform them into more helpful internal narratives.
  • Through practicing carefully selected Yoga poses, you will learn subtle adjustments to your posture and breathing that you can utilize anytime and anywhere – no Yoga mat required! – to stay calm and feel more confident and courageous.
  • You will learn effective safety techniques that anybody can do and that are simple enough to remember, even when you feel stressed. Knowing that you could defend yourself if you had to provides a solid base for managing your fear in any situation.
  • Utilizing your body to shift your mindset, you will learn how to say what you need to say to the person who needs to hear it, in a way that preserves and strengthens your relationships.

If this piques your interest,
then you have come to the right place.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What’s the format of a Mind-Body Empowerment Program? +

To ensure personalized attention, I work one-on-one or with small groups of compatible humans.  Each program is carefully tailored to the individual participants’ goals and physical abilities.  The foundational program meets for a minimum of four weekly sessions, all of which include a dialogue on selected topics, a targeted sequence of Yoga poses, some journaling, meditation and breathing exercises, as well as self-defense training that is conceptually related to the theme of the week.

I offer nurturing, non-judgmental support and gentle yet no-nonsense encouragement as you safely venture beyond your current comfort zone.

If this feels like a beneficial environment for you,
then you have come to the right place.

Are couch potatoes and desk jockeys welcome? +

Yes!  Mind-Body Empowerment is NOT about contorting yourself into a pretzel or doing fancy karate kicks; it’s about purposeful posture and breath adjustments, so you can shift your mindset and take calm, courageous action.  All movement components are accessible at any fitness level.

If you want to bring out your inner strength,
then you have come to the right place.

I’m an experienced Yogi / martial artist. Will I be sufficiently challenged? +

Definitely.  Mind-Body Empowerment goes beyond merely “doing” a pose or a self-defense move.  We explore subtle alignment cues, underlying physical and mental principles, and related spiritual concepts.  Mind-Body Empowerment will advance your Yoga and martial arts practice at any stage, as you gain insights from your habitual posture and movement patterns and learn how to honor and utilize your unique physiology and personality.  More importantly, you will discover new ways of being a Yogi and martial artist wherever you go.

If you are ready for the next level version of you,
then you have come to the right place.

I couldn’t hurt a fly. Am I in the right place? +

Absolutely.  Mind-Body Empowerment is NOT about beating people up!  The true spirit of the martial arts is self-mastery, respect for all human beings, and avoiding a fight whenever possible.  You will learn how to stay out of harm’s way and, should a fight be inevitable, end it quickly and with the least amount of damage to yourself and others.

If you want to be a peaceful warrior,
hen you have come to the right place.

When would working with you NOT be right for me? +

Mind-Body Empowerment is about becoming more aware of yourself and your surroundings, identifying the fears and core beliefs that keep you stuck, and then taking courageous, humble, and patient steps toward the future you envision.  So, working with me may not be a good fit if

  • you only want to know how you can get other people to behave differently, and you are not willing to change your own contribution to challenging situations and relationships,
  • you are hoping for someone else to “fix” or rescue you,
  • you believe there is nothing you can do about your suffering and you only want to commiserate with other victims, or
  • you are not open to stepping outside your comfort zone and exploring a different approach to life.
